Film synopsis
In another attempt to find the cause of the malfunction, Jake and Ute fly outside the ICSS to retrieve a flash drive which has been ejected into space, following a freak accident which killed a member of the ICSS. However, Jake's suit malfunctions, causing his boosters to out of control and nearly gets himself out of reach of the ICSS. After being rescued, Jake reveals to Ute that he has retrieved the flash drive, but has kept it secret from his crew, suspecting that someone's tried to kill him. Jake and Ute attempt to find the source of the error, but are blocked by someone; Jake concludes that someone within the White House is responsible. Jake tells Max about this in an encrypted message. Meanwhile, Cheng meets up with Max, but is killed when someone pushes him and he crashes into a car. but not before he tells Max about Zeus. Max and Dana crack Jake's encrypted message and discovers that Zeus is a simulation program which deduces which possible scenarios will happen to every country when the Dutch Boy satellites malfunction.
During the presidential campaign in Colorado, Max reveals his intentions to Dekkom, in which Dekkom agrees to help. Max eventually escapes after Dekkom attempts to kill him, being the one behind the malfunction of the Dutch Boy. Max eventually tells Sarah, and they decide to "kidnap" President Palma. They manage to save President Palma and escape from the stadium before a massive thunderstorm blows up the stadium. They are pursued by Dekkom's troops but Sarah takes them down and watches one of them (who happens to be the one that pushed Cheng) die after lightning blows up the car. Dekkom attempts to track their car and blow it up, but Max outsmarts and confronts Dekkom. Before he is arrested, Dekkom reveals his intentions to use the satellite to wipe out all of America's enemies and kill the candidates in the upcoming Presidential election.

Film synopsis
After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world's leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong: the system built to protect Earth is attacking it, and it becomes a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything and everyone along with it.
Trailer,
Plot,
In 2019, after several natural disasters of epic proportions hit Earth, 18 nations[7] have banded together and commissioned a natural disaster defense system nicknamed "Dutch Boy", a series of climate-controlling satellites surrounding Earth centered around the International Climate Space Station. Jake Lawson is the architect behind it all, commanding a multinational crew on board the station, until, after a Senate sub-committee hearing where he is tasked with defending his past actions vis-a-vis Dutch Boy, goes postal and verbally attacks Virginia senator Thomas Cross, head of the sub-committee, after Cross insinuates less-than-diplomatic notions about his conduct (including an instance where, in an attempt to prevent a federal inspector touching a short-circuting electrical system, Lawson punched the federal inspector sent by the sub-committee). He is replaced by his relatively calmer brother, Max Lawson.
Three years later, a United Nations field team is riding through Afghanistan when they are confronted with an unnerving sight: an entire village frozen, along with its inhabitants. U.S. President Andrew Palma calls an emergency meeting of his Cabinet (including Max), who now works for the State Department under Secretary Leonard Dekkom where it is revealed that an alleged malfunction in the satellite responsible for maintaining Afghanistan's weather caused the freezing. President Palma wants the incident all covered up to prevent the nations involved in the project from brewing up a political storm, as the United States is slated to hand over authority over the Space Station to the international community in two weeks' time. Max protests in the strongest possible terms and reminds Palma that they must take responsibility and fix the problems with Dutch Boy. The President consents to sending one man up to the station; Despite his objections, Max reluctantly chooses Jake under suggestions by Dekkom.
Max approaches Jake at his house in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where he has lived for the past three years, intermittently accompanied by his daughter Hannah (who has been under shared custody with Jake's ex-wife after the sub-committee fiasco, costing him his home and marriage), to persuade him to go back up into the job. Jake is at first cold and unresponsive to his brother's advance. However, after Max appeals to Jake's passion for his work, he agrees. Meanwhile, an extreme increase of temperature in Hong Kong results in a massive gas leak, destroying part of the city and nearly killing Cheng, Max's college friend and the Dutch Boy Program's Hong Kong bureau chief.
Upon arriving at ICSS, Jake is introduced to Ute Fassbinder, the commander of the space station, along with his crew: Duncan, Hernandez, Adisa, and Dussette. When the crew tries to investigate one of the malfunctioning satellites, the machine holding the satellite malfunctions, causing the satellite to be broken beyond repair, and all of its data is lost. Meanwhile, Cheng contacts Max, who tells him that he can't access the Hong Kong satellite despite having the authority to do so. He also tells Max that if the malfunction continues, the world will suffer from "Geostorm", a chain reaction of massive disasters all over the world that will lead to millions of people dying. Max, being the man in charge of the Dutch Boy, also can't access the satellite. He enlists Dana, a friend of his who is also a hacker, and discovers that his authority is blocked. During a blackout, Cheng's office is raided by armed mercenaries. Cheng manages to hide and decides to fly to the States to tell Max.
Max and Dana crack Jake's encrypted message and discovers that Zeus is a simulation program which deduces which possible scenarios will happen to every country when the Dutch Boy satellites malfunction.
Jake and Ute, with the help of Dussette, discovers a data kept by the dead ICSS member in a locker and discovers that the entire system has been infected by a virus. Jake believes that the President is behind the attack and is using the Dutch Boy as a weapon. He tells Max in order to restore Dutch Boy, he needs to reboot the system entirely, but not before he receives the kill code, held by the President. Max asks Sarah, his fiance and a Secret Service agent, to help him to acquire the kill
code.
code.
Meanwhile, the virus affects the entire ICSS, causing the self destruct mechanism to activate. It was a defense mechanism created by Jake in case of crashing to Earth. Jake realizes that Duncan is the inside man, and the one who's initiating the self destruct program. Duncan is killed, and Jake escapes. As the crew evacuates, Jake decides to stay behind in order to ensure that the reboot is complete. Max and Sarah manage to escort the President to a nearby NASA facility, where it is revealed that while the Geostorm can be stopped, it cannot stop the destruction of the ICSS. Ute decides to also stay behind in order to help Jake, and manages to reboot the system, preventing the Geostorm. They manage to take shelter in an attached satellite, and manage to escape from the exploding ICSS. Hernandez and his remaining crew manages to get hold of their satellite and arrive safely on Earth. Jake and Max eventually reconcile, and are greeted by President Palma.
Six months later, Jake manages to reclaim his job as the engineer of the Dutch Boy, with the Dutch Boy given to the international committee. The movie ends with Hannah narrating that no-one can change the past, but people can embrace the future, as a rocket flies in the distance to the stars above.
Thanks
Enjoy!
